As someone else said, "occasionally a little childish." What they were referring to was passages such as the following discussion between the Nameless Protagonist and his Pregnant Girlfriend: PG- "You're a miserable little shit." NP- "So's your face." PG- "That doesn't make sense." NP- "Neither does your face." PG- "You're a big baby." NP- "So's your face." PG- "Shut up." NP- "Shut up your face."And so it goes, for pages at a time.If you can tolerate that, there's a pseudo-Agatha Christie story as well, complete with dramatic unveiling of the murderer at a funeral, one which almost comes off, but not quite. Another outing with the Mystery Man. Not quite as good as the first book in the series, but still laugh-out-loud funny at times as MM and his assistants are hot on the trail (well, sort of) on a missing stuffed Jack Russell.For me the best thing about this book was learning more about crime/ detective fiction, with little bits of information dropped in throughout including Ronald Knox's Ten Commandments of Detective Fiction. Great!
