Not as good as I expected. Part of a series. Perhaps it would have been better if I had read the first ones. Flavia's mother's body has been found, frozen in a glacier for 10 years. When she is brought back home for a funeral, another death occurs. Eleven year old Flavia starts finding clues and discovers her mother was a spy and was murdered by her aunt, a double agent. Various members of the family are involved. Everything is tied up at the end and Flavia is to be sent to a girl's school in Canada, now part of the family spy system, and awaiting her next adventure. I listened to this Flavia DeLuce novel while driving home from Ohio - a 7 hour trip. Flavia is only 11 years old but has an incredibly inquisitive mind. She is also transfixed by the laboratory in their English manor that her Uncle has left, fully equipped to conduct many experiments.In this story, Flavia's mother, Harriet is returning home to Bishop's Lacey, after being lost for 10 years. She is arriving home in a casket, having been found in a glacier in Tibet. Flavia picks up clues that may indicate that her mother may have been murdered and she is off on her own investigation.Very entertaining.
