The Depot: When Life And Death Cross Tracks (2000) - Plot & Excerpts
Is a young woman who works in a restaurant which is near a train depot really responsible for the suicide of a young man, or is there more to this than first meets the eye? This is a suspenseful, eerie short story which moves at a very good clip, and builds throughout to the unexpected climax. The chemistry between the main characters is palpable, and it would be great to see a second part in their story, but the door being left open for further instalments is a smart move. Well done. Lacking the layers of a novel the short still grabbed my attention from the get go!The extremely shallow main protagonist was a breath of fresh air since she only started to redeem herself close to the end!I used to really dislike short stories and while Instill prefer a full length novel I am learning to appreciate real writ, ing talent in short stories. It takes talent to get a reader to invest in a short. This author has a talent for writing, no doubt about it. WaAr.
