Maureen Coughlin is a heroine for sure, although that is not what she ever, ever wanted to be. I loved this book, and found myself enjoying Loehfelm's descriptions of Maureen's environment and of her thoughts at least as much as I enjoyed the pace of a very exciting story. Actually, I believe Maureen is an American version of Denise Mina's main character Paddy from her tartan noir novels of Glasgow. I listened to this book on audio CDs. Really kept my interest and couldn't wait to get back into the car to see what was going to happen to Maureen next. The book started out with a bang and just kept going. I got slightly tired of listening to Maureen say she was going to do something and then when she did it, ask herself again why she did it or "what was I thinking"? But I'd definitely recommend it to someone else! It was a good read!
Interesting book. Dragged in parts but very much held my attention. Will be reading more by him.

Great introduction to a memorable series character; Maureen Coughlin is a woman I'd like to know.
