The Disappearing Spoon: And Other True Tales Of Madness, Love, And The History Of The World From The Periodic Table Of The Elements (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

An amazing read if you've ever wanted to peel back the curtain on the periodic table. It's an excellent collection of stories about the roles many of the elements played in history and in the universe, and also the table and discoverers themselves.Starts to go beyond my depth a little in the last few chapters, but enjoyable to read nonetheless. Would absolutely recommend to nerds everywhere. I listened to this as an audiobook and it was enlightening. I want to listen to it again. It explained so much to me about the elements, how and why they were created and why the periodic table is critical to our lives. But the best part is the historical element to the book. Telling the story behind many of the elements made this book addictive to me. Reading this in high school would have helped the hours in chemistry class pass much faster!
