The Dream Jumpers Promise (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
I enjoyed reading this book. Kim Hornsby's knowledge of Hawaii and its local haunts and dives added so much to the story, as did her Scuba diving/instructing experience. I'm very much a visual person, and when she described a scene, the imagery was so good, I could close my eyes and picture it, even though I've never been to Hawaii. She's woven an interesting cast of characters into a contemporary love/mystery/paranormal dream jumping/ghost story...and it absolutely works! Wow, what an experience this read was. The author described such a rich world of the Hawaiian islands that I was reminded of the lushness I experienced in my one short visit 17 years ago. I know nothing of scuba diving, except what my son shared while he was taking lessons—but the descriptions of the sensations felt by the divers made the experience easy to imagine. I was part of a dream analysis group for six years and the plot element dealing with lucid and shared dreaming was one I totally understood. An enjoyable, and engrossing, story.
