The Education Of Madeline (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
I rate this book a 4 1/2 stars. It is clearly a good ole cowboy historical romance with bit of erotica in it. Madeline Brewster the leading lady is a spinster when she sets her sights on Teague O'Neal a tall strong man in the hangman's noose when she saves him from getting hung. Now she just wants Teague to make her a woman. Wow, I believe this has to be the best part of the book when this transpires between these two. One thing for sure this man cannot turn her down on this offer.Teague O'Neal hasn't had much to live for since the war between the states. He even lost everything worth living for. So when Maddie saved him maybe this was new beginning for him, something to live for...Great story! This book was a very average read to me, nothing really stood out. The plot was very flimsy and not fleshed out well. The bad guys were very cardboard one-dimensional characters and the whole scheme against Madeline didn't make a lot of sense and wasn't very plausible. The main characters weren't bad but they could have been fleshed out a lot more. We still never learned why Madeline stayed in this town where they were mean to her for two years after her father died, I don't understand why she didn't take her money and light out of there to see the world. I also didn't buy the fact that she had never traveled anywhere in her life outside of the town. The hero seemed a bit of a loser, he didn't have a whole lot of ambition. The heroine was over-bearing sometimes, I didn't like how she ordered people around even the hero. The love scenes were okay, they weren't nearly as hot as I thought they would be. So overall, an okay read as long as you don't expect too much from the story or characters.
