I felt the attraction between the two MC's but not so sure about the love. It felt a little rushed. The mystery aspect was not really resolved well enough for me. The first victim, there was a lot of effort put into it from however many years ago it was, and it's left up to our imaginations/assumptions as to why. The story also jumps around a lot. I felt a little whip lashed at times! I also had trouble keeping some of the secondary characters straight. But overall, it was an enjoyable story despite all that. Not sure I would read another book from this author though, as the style was a little too frustrating. [3.5 stars] I should start saying I'm not a huge fan of BDSM. So, while I wouldn't say I was scared going into this particular challenge, I wasn't exactly thrilled about it either. With no high expectation out of it, I picked The Elegant Corpse, and, I have to say, it was a pleasent surprise. The book focus mostly on the mistery, which was done rather well if a little hard to follow at times, and has a light component of BDSM (some spanking and flogging; there's a non-con torture scene, but overall nothing too hardcore). The romantic involvement between the MCs was the part I struggled the most with. It was hard to believe in it as it didn't have any building, and came a little too out of the blue. While not memorable, an enjoyable read.
What do You think about The Elegant Corpse (2008)?
4.5 stars. A classic police murder mystery with a BDSM twist.

very slow-going with jumps in the story-line.
