Older strip centers bedecked with vacancy signs a few years ago now announce occupants not only in English but in symbols of languages foreign to the ear of natives of these parts. The various suburbs have seen an invasion from the Orient that has raised both property values and public-school achievement scores to some of the highest in the state.
