The Family We Make (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

This was a solid book and although we got a good dose of romance from our MCs (Rick and Travis) - this book felt very much like a family book. A list of characters that make up a loving family. I say that because to me the hero, or rather the main character, was Sam Albright. He's at the center of this series and even though he has a romance story of his own, I was actually not drawn to hear more about it - other than to know that he has a good woman in Dora - at his side to complement, support, and love him - to make him happy.The turn of events with Rick and Travis - their relationship with their parents/family, health, challenges, and their future - felt sad, bittersweet, but also HFN. It really is impossible to not like anything written by Kaje Harper and this book is no exception. This book was not a page turner/unputdownable for me like some others have been, but picking it back up was something I looked forward to and enjoyed. It felt lovely, comforting..like a needed hug or a nice luscious bed at the end of a very tiring day. I don't know whether this book is the end of the series or if the series will take us in another direction - however it unfolds though, I'll be there to pick up my copy of her next book! This is a sequel to the free short story in the Family Series. This one is novel length and, since I'm a huge Kaje Harper fan, I went into it expecting to enjoy it and I was not disappointed. Great character development, for the MC's and all the secondary characters. Thorough stories and plots - just a very absorbing, emotional story. The story did not always go the way I thought it would but I did get my HEA. :-}

What do You think about The Family We Make (2014)?

Kaje Harper - do I need to say more? She still has to write a book I wouldn't be sucked in.

I could not get fully into this book. It was ok in chapters but it did not fully engage me.
