Audiobook Review4 StarsA must-read for those who are excavators of the Bin Laden story and the contemporary history of terrorism in the US and the world. It's also a must-read for anyone, particularly young people who don't have first-hand recollections of terrorism in the US since the 1990's. Bowden has a tendency for repetition, understandably because he is trying to encapsulate the salient points of the story, but it makes the reader tune out at times. I prefer historical chronology to be linear. You will learn things that you probably did not know from this factual account. It really took me long to finish this..Thanks to the hectic work pressure.I had read 'No Easy Day' which was more action-packed and gave a ground picture of the happenings. This book on the other hand would describe the politics and bureaucracy and of course the tireless intelligence effort that went behind the worlds' most extravagant manhunt in history.'No Easy Day' at times finds the 'White House' slow in decision making, this book somewhat explains the reasons behind it that include the considerations of the all possible national and international repercussions and weighing of all available options including the ones that would inflict minimum loss and damage if they go wrong. One thing that I didn't like about it was it lacks (if I may say so) honesty to some extend. The US administration and presidency has been shown in very sanctimonious lights and the book falls short of any criticism of those (so one star off). Its certainly a good to read book.
It's basically Zero Dark Thirty only without the composite characters.

Too much about the politics, not enough action like Black Hawk Down.
