The Flinch (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

I think Julien did a solid job with this short book. His message is not new to me, but he presented it in a different way than others have and that gives it value in my mind. His emphasis on breaking old patterns and having new experiences is an important part of the conversation about Resistance (to borrow Steven Pressfield's term) and I'm glad Julien included them. He also offers up some homework assignments - taking a cold shower every day for a week is one of them - which I think help drive home the things he talks about. He says "Doing the uncomfortable is key. It widens your circle of comfort." and "Nothing will actually happen if you stop being afraid. You're free.". I think both are pretty good points. Overall, it's an easy read (it took maybe an hour) and it's offered for FREE (yes, you can get it on Amazon), so there's no reason why anyone looking to better themselves and challenge their status quo shouldn't have this on their list. "You're not wrong, you're just an a**hole", that's my review of this (blessedly short and free) book. It's just common sense recycled and yelled at you in a snarky know-it-all tone. If you've never seen a motivational speech, if your parents or teachers never lectured you, if you've never read a self-help book, then by all means, read this, it'll make you sh*t bricks. Otherwise, you probably have more important things to do right now or more enjoyable ways of wasting your time. Here's a summary: get off your a**, it won't kill you to try. Boom! I've just saved you so much time.

What do You think about The Flinch (2000)?

A but redundant and noting truly groundbreaking. But some valuable tidbits here and there.
