The Gardier woman was standing near the fire, her arms folded tightly. “I want to walk around,” Balin said, giving Tremaine an uncertain glare that somehow combined defiance and diffidence. Tremaine started to say no, then groaned under her breath. She didn’t suppose it could matter. “All right, fine.” She said to Cimarus in Syrnaic, “Let her walk down to the circle chamber, but keep an eye on her.” As Tremaine started down the stairs, Meretrisa joined her, saying, “Only a few more circles to try.”
