This was an excellent book, I have been on a historical fiction kick for a while and this is probably one of the best I have read. Only bad thing about historical fiction is it is hard to follow if you aren't up to speed on the history itself. This was WWI and I have little knowledge of it, but the storyline was so good, I found myself brushing up on my WWI facts to make sure I understood the plot completely. The characters and connection between two different stories was well done. I also enjoy where the stories began - after some tragic events occurred for both main characters. A little different than other books. I also love the progression and growth of Liv's character. I have never been (and hope to never experience) the painful loss that she is moving on from - however the growth and emotions and actions she experiences seem to be realistic from my perspective.
It took me a bit to get into it but once I was I could not stop listening. I loved it.
