The Goodbye Quilt is a lovely story of a mother and daughter relationship revealed during a cross country drive to move the daughter into her college dorm. As a quilter, I found the quilting in the story distracting. Is the quilt being quilted? Is it being embellished with embroidery? What about the binding!!!! If you don't care about the quilting details, it is a beautiful story, and a quick and easy read. Super, sweet and quick read about a girl going off to college and how her mom will cope with no longer being a mom in the daily sense of the job. I related to the quilt project as I've kept so many clothes from my kids with the idea of making some sort of collage or quilt. We'll see!Gave me deep appreciation for what my friend with older children are going through as well as my friends with grown children.
I didn't enjoy this book that much..but it did have a surprising ending. I applaud that.

The story idea was good, but the book gets a bit sappy.
