The Highlander's Conquest (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
I really enjoy historical romance, especially stories about Highlanders. This is the second in the Stolen Brides series and it was pretty good. I'm having a problem with the men not being, well, manlier, in Knight's books. For instance, Blane seemed to be constantly running and/or hiding from one enemy or other, which was annoying, and the dialogue during some of the steamy scenes was beyond cheesy. The story was a bit predictable, but still enjoyable. I read it quickly and will continue on with the next offering in the series. Perhaps they will be like some other series, and only get better as they go along. Blane Sutherland went to retrieve Arbella's sister, Aliah from England, and bring her to the Highlands. He goes there under the disguise of being an Englishman and convinces her to go with him. On the way there they run into trouble and have an adventure together. They fall in love. Good writing and it kept my interest. Too neatly concluded with his conflict of finding his parent's murderers and his guilt. There is hope there that she will continue to grow now that she found some new freedom and new perspective about her own life.
What do You think about The Highlander's Conquest (2012)?
Pleasant story - the ending seemed to be wrapped up far too quickly though.
