When he had gone from bear to man or man to husband? She shook her head, not wanting to consider what this meant. ‘Forgive me, my lady. I did not mean to startle the horses,’ his sister said as she approached. ‘I am Margaret Mackintosh, Robbie’s sister.’ Pushing her disturbing reverie aside, Eva looked down at the woman standing beside her now. Lucky for her, the training of her childhood and position as the heir of the MacKay asserted itself, since the illness and exhaustion had certainly muddled her wits and made her forget even the simplest of polite behaviour.
