Probably would have been 2 stars except for the fact that it is set in Cincinnati and it was interesting to see how the city and neighborhoods were used in the story line. That sometimes appeared forced, though. It often seemed that the author was trying to push Cincinnati as a great place to live and used different locations merely to make that point. Was it really necessary to say that the food was purchased at Jungle Jim's? This novel tells the story of four, or maybe five, people - Eloise who gives up her career to take care of her dead sister's three children and those three children. Eloise's mother, Francine, also figures prominently in the story as the owner of the house in which Eloise and the children live. Eloise wants to sell the house now that the children are grown, but one of the children refuses to let her do so. Things spiral out of control from there.Ballet, music and college careers all figure into this novel which is well-crafted and an enjoyable read.
