The Horse Master Of Shanhasson (2007) - Plot & Excerpts

Jake is a stable hand, working the horses is his specialty. He knows just what makes them tick and how to handle them with expert hands. When he is called on to address his Queen's special needs, he is eager to help. But he is anxious, because not only has he been in love with her since the day he saved her from the evil clutches of the Shadow who captured and tortured her as a young woman, but he is also weary of the curse of the dragon that resides within him. Knowing he has only one chance at loving her body before he must ride away, never to see her again, he accepts the challenge to use his master's touch to bring the queen to heel, and in the process, risks losing the control he has kept teetering on the edge for far too long. I liked this story. It was short, sweet, and very in depth. To me, it almost felt like it was a full length story. It had plenty of back story to make me feel for the characters, which can be difficult to accomplish in such a short span of time. The connection between the two was convincing enough to keep me interested and I rooted for them to succeed in taming each other. In all, this was a good, satisfying read for any romance aficionado. A free download that I actually read. I discovered that it's just a beginning teaser for a series (although it's not listed on the series page for some reason). I'm writing this short note b/c it happened to be a nice allegory for a dom/sub relationship. To be clear, there is an actual D/s relationship in this novella, but the fantasy aspects illustrate the power exchange nicely. For a quick read, I'd recommend it.

What do You think about The Horse Master Of Shanhasson (2007)?

3.5 stars. Started off really good. Then, I thought she went from damaged to agressor too fast.
