The Hot Floor (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

I really enjoyed this story, with its British setting and appealing characters. Josh was badly burned by his last relationship and is scared to open up again. Rai and Evan are a hot couple in his building that he crushes on. After forging a friendship, an accident with the bath sends them into a different kind of relationship. Each character was distinct, with their own issues that created believable tensions in the relationship. I felt a lot of empathy with Josh throughout, given that he had literally crashed into an established relationship; his feelings of being the potential third wheel felt completely plausible. Rai's brazen personality and Evan's calm demeanor were a nice counterpoint. The secondary characters, from Josh's best friend Denise, to his bosses, Stella and Dylan all added a nice depth to the story. Sometimes the sex in the final scene of a story feels like it's there as obligatory erotica and doesn't fit, but the epilogue scene here worked well, having had a lot of foundation laid earlier on that made it a very fitting conclusion.Oh, and I loved that Josh's profession was that of glass blower - nice, unique choice and a profession I think is amazing and cool. This book is a little light on plot but does a good job of filling out the characters with good back stories, jobs, and personality quirks to give me a feeling for the characters. The biggest draw is the hot sex scene sprinkled with some very light BDSM play. Not alot of drama beyond the standard "Do they love, or am I just a fun play toy" type thing that is pretty common in menage stories, but I still found it a very enjoyable read.
