The House On Hancock Hill (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
"The House on Hancock Hill" is my second m/m romance written in English and I truely enjoyed it. Jason, the pastery chef and Henry, the vet were great characters. They both had their secrets and memories of their past hunting them. I liked the fact that there were up and downs in the story and that not everything was clear and easy from the beginning on. The writing style was good and made the story very enjoyable. However at certain points the storytelling was a bit slow. All in all I really liked this sweet m/m romance! 4 stars! :) Grrrr, I don't review well because I emote in writing. That is the best way to explain it . As far as this book goes though, it was actually written quite well. There was just one issue I had, the m c , JASON. What a stereotypical , self absorbed , narcissistic, twitchy , little pansy of a character . Did I say selfish and uncaring to the point of can someone just shoot him already ? He had a car accident and Henry saves his life (Oh Henry , had you let me drive your Avalanche I would have run him over to make it quicker than the hypothermia) . It's probably just the genre ; my inexperience with the nuances ?of the style of writing ; my being male and/or gay and this being written by a woman. Im not sure . I'm willing to look at any excuse and completely blame myself for the main character ruining the book for me . And the thing is , I think there was supposed to be some sort of redemptive denouement... This far in m/m romance I've read the completely ludicrous , the painfully heartbreaking , the scintillating , the gritting my teeth angsty , etc . I know it's fantasy ,or even some times fantastical , and I've either said : ' ok, that was meh ' or ' yeah, that worked well' . The House On Hancock Hill just made me seethe.
What do You think about The House On Hancock Hill (2014)?
1/2 star for making me want to curse fictional people and still hope they have happy ending.
