Storyline had potential but was generally not well written. It was the opposite of smooth, jerky, awkward transitions, plot developments that were odd, and the connection between the two characters was unbelievable. No memorable dialog, touches on child abuse but does so somewhat callously, unintelligent characters with no depth, and only kept reading cause descriptions of Patrick were hot but not enough for me to continue with the series. Some Beta readers and editorial guidance would have done wonders to this book. I won this book from Goodreads.I really enjoyed the storyline focusing on Seraphina and Bertie, I found it to be mysterious and had some twists and turns that I was not expecting and I could not help being drawn to Bertie and the questions and circumstances as to why he was the way he was. The description of this book says it is about a forbidden love affair between the nanny and the master of the house, but I really found it to be more focused on Bertie and Seraphina's relationship than that of her and Patrick. I felt that the affair including the erotic sex came on suddenly and seemed out of place considering much of the book focused Bertie's situation.I would give this a 3.5.
