Fantastic book! I loved the storyline -- it was unique, original, and kept me reading. I loved all of the characters, but it bugged me that Will wouldn't just tell Hannah (or anyone) the real story with Freddie. I know he was just coping the only way he could figure out how, but I think he should have told people sooner. I also kept wanting him to tell Hannah how he really felt...and her the same. Besides those minor things, I loved the book. I liked the way the author wrote and the interesting story she created. I kind of had a feeling on how it would end, but I wasn't exactly sure how we were going to get there...and I liked that. It kept me reading to see what was going to happen and to see if I was right on my hunches.I received a copy of this book for free through a Pay a Book Forward program, and will be passing it on for someone else to enjoy! I highly recommend this lovely story of struggling hearts and minds. The author brings the characters to life beautifully, they became friends you can't help but cheer on. Family relations are handled gently and realistically. There is something for all of us to take home from this book. And, as an added bonus, now I want to live on Occoneechee Mountain, Barbara depicts such an incredible sense of place.
