The J.M. Barrie Ladies' Swimming Society (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
This was a "nice" story -- enjoyable to read, good messages conveyed. What held me to the 3-star review were the inconsistencies in the author's Brit vs. American references and spellings. I think other reviewers have commented on this, and I don't know if this is the fault of the author or the editor. Some examples:I thought the author was American, but her spellings are British. One of the characters in England is knitting a sweater -- wouldn't the Brits call it a jumper? The main character lives in New York, takes her dog to the vet, and refers to him as "Mr." rather than "Dr."; I know they do that in England, but a New York vet would certainly be called "Dr."These back-and-forth references -- some Brit, some American -- threw me off from totally enjoying the book. I think the author/editor should have decided to make it totally one way or the other. This was a very enjoyable book - though the proof-reader in me had some issues . . . there's still someone out there that checks for errors, right?Typos, misspellings . . . . There seemed to be more errors than the typical ones too - but getting past that, the story was different, I learned about J.M. Barrie and I wished I knew some of those wonderful ladies ~ or maybe I could just become one!

Lu en français. Un roman qui se lit rapidement et qui ne laisse aucune trace derrière lui!

It was a bit blah. I expected more on JM Barrie and the house.
