This was a light read, like drinking flavored water. I tend to devour through romance books as a way to cope with reality (or not), still, most of these tend to be intense in a way; this book was not that way. The author doesn't focus mainly on pleasing the reader, as many romance books tend to do, that makes it more realistic for some reason; it's not made to please love bitten hearts searching for steamy love scenes and deep-love demonstrations. It just... is, I'm not sure how to explain it.No matter what kind of romance books you enjoy; either Fifty Shades of Grey intense-hankypanky or mellow books that melt your heart like Eleanor and Park, you'll probably love this book. BESIDES, Italy, who doesn't love Italy? "Doubt thou the stars are fire, doubt the sun doth move, doubt truth to be a liar, but never doubt I love." One of my favorite quotes of all timeThis is only my second book review but I could not think of a better book to give this honor to. There are those who would condemn this book for being cliché, unrealistic, and unbelievable. I don't pretend to know the mind of any particular author or reader but as it was once so eloquently put, "we are all mad here." Everyone of us book junkies out there, whether we write or read, are mad in our own special way. So believe what you will and I will do the same. For me this book is genius. I feel like Suzanne Harper has caught the essence of Shakespeare himself. When looking at any of the playwrights prices, they can obviously be counted as cliché. Romeo and Juliet fall in love at first sight. A Midsummer Nights Dream is most certainly unrealistic. But that is the beauty of these works. Suzanne Harper has brought the same feel of any of Shakespeare's works to her own. The Juliet Club is rich in characters and setting. I can imagine the characters with such clarity and feel the Italian sun on my skin. The plot itself is a combination of Much Ado About Nothing and Romeo and Juliet in and of itself. I know I am young. Being only 17 I count as a baby. I may be blinded by my own misguided thoughts on love. I may be pulled in by cliché. I am most definitely crazy. Mad Hatter crazy. But I know that this book is something special, to me at least. Give up on it if you will, I will carry it with me forever. This book makes me smile and brings me such happiness every time I read it. I hope it does the same to anyone else that reads it.
What do You think about The Juliet Club (2008)?
Meh. Typical YA novel. Easy read, average boy meets girl plot.
