The Land Between: Finding God In Difficult Transitions (2010) - Plot & Excerpts
I bought this book by accident on my Kindle, but am pretty sure that Divine intervention was involved, because Manion's words and insight into the Israelite's wonderings brought me immense comfort and encouragement in my time in the Between. My husband and I were leaving full-time ministry a little worse for wear, my husband was going to grad school, and we were raising 4 kids on a tiny budget. I read this book like a devotional, in little bits, soaking in the wisdom and encouragement to get through another day. I highly recommend this book for anyone going through a trying time, I believe God will use it to help you get to the other side, just like he did with me. Godspeed to you! This book is so impactful our senior pastor did an entire sermon series on it. And as it comes in the shadow of the great recession, its timing could not be more perfect. While largely using the events of the wilderness journey of the Israelites, Manion touches on the lives of many Biblical characters to show that even when we feel lost, God is moving us into fertile ground, the best place we can be. What I appreciate the most was how Manion was able to pull from scripture just how much God cares about you in your circumstance and even though it may be painful in the present, He has a glorious future in store for you.
