To be edited:This book is about a flawed main character growing and learning how to be a man. It is a book about second chances, and fighting for the relationships that are important. It is also a romance, although that feels secondary to the story.I liked Rett's journey to self discovery.I didn't like that some of the very real issues, like being in a relationship with a closeted baseball player was mostly just skipped, and I thoght that Rett's relationship with his father shifted a bit too easily.I think I will remember Rett for some time, Cory onthe other hand I find too perfect boyfriend and boring. On page 235 of 495 of The Last Day Of Summer I said: What impresses me is how well the author shows the hero's major flaw, an unwillingness to face problems and instead, delectable or avoid. Age has nothing to do with this It is understandable given his upbringing, but it is also so obviously the thing he needs to learn to become a well rounded.adult. Sometimes facing up to the problems in relationships is harder than facing a rabid dog.And although other themes get dealt with, this was the major point of this story. Loved it.
