Through the rest of 1949 and into 1950, the Villa Igea in Palermo was home to Luciano and Igea. It was a place both had come to love, where they had been happy in the past. He was taking the grand tour of Europe, both as a delayed honeymoon with his second wife, Thelma — she had been his manicurist in Miami before his divorce from Anna and their marriage in 1948 — and as a way to avoid for the moment some of the heat arising from the opening stages of the Senate crime investigating committee under Estes Kefauver.
