I had to force myself to finish this. Something did not ring true--many things, actually. Like how were they able to meet in the coffee shop? Where was the owner? Why was Roger Yee able to get away with what he did for so long? And oh, yes, the totally clueless lame stereotypical admin at the school. We are all "mutts" & it was plain old boring. Maybe I should start a "Creamer" club for misunderstood "whites." Disappointing for a Florida Teen Reads. What interesting concept for a book! As a brown person, who is ethnically ambiguous, I was instantly smitten by the ideas presented in this novel. It was also a nice change of pace from the typical romance heavy YA novels. Overall, it was a good read. I gave it 2 stars instead of 3, because the pacing was rather slow and the main character spent a lot of time whining inside of her own head. This lead to periods of low intensity and minimal action. However, I applaud Stevenson for delving into such an interesting topic!
What do You think about The Latte Rebellion (2011)?
It was fun, and made me think about race and what it really "means".
