The Lincoln Conspiracy (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

Great historical fiction. The author definitely spent time learning about the period. I know that mist of the books I review are appropriate for YA, this one is more appropriate for high school or older. If you like reading about early America this book is definitely a must read. I was entertained from the beginning. The difficult part for me was that you had to have chunks of time to read, so 5 minutes here and there wasn't worth it. It was also difficult to read if the kids kept popping in to chat. Elaborate tale with lots of details you don't want to miss. While an interesting read and an enjoyable book from a general perspective, I felt that there were either too many details in parts or not enough. While I don't expect every story to tie up all loose ends this felt like a half finished story with characters rotating in and out and, after all of the excitement and clever maneuverings by multiple parties throughout the rest of the book, the ending felt rushed and weak - almost like the author ran out of gas. With that said, I did enjoy that the main characters were frequently out-maneuvered by clever opponents despite their own wits and capabilities. It's nice to see an author who isn't so in love with this characters that they can do no wrong.

What do You think about The Lincoln Conspiracy (2012)?

The characters of Temple, Fiona and Augustus are compelling. It was a hard book to put down!

Good writing and a good story but was disappointed with the ending. Needed more closer.
