Mixed feelings about this one. I really enjoyed Rita's journey from mousey, broken spirited woman unhappily married to a horrible, evangelistic preacher to the warm, confident, wise and sexy Lion lady. The story of the annoying bubbleheaded thief Tracee, and the gorgeous but cruel Lana was far less compelling. The glue in this tale and the most important character is Marcel; and what a guy he is. With a big shaggy mane, a killer smile and a calming, knowing presence he is the heart of this book. In the end it was my love of Marcel and what he brought to each character that ended up making me love this book. This book got off to a slow start, but I ended up really liking the second half. Tracee, Lana and Rita are all at a crossroads in their lives and they need to make some major changes. After their car breaks down, they end up in a small town, and they meet Marcel, the lion. I feel that animals can make us see the simplicities in life and help us change for the better, and I loved that in this book.
What do You think about The Lion Is In (2012)?
Liked the ending. Written more as a screen play than a novel.
