They found the horses ridden by Leatherwood’s men hidden in Navajo Wash and took the six animals with them. Extra mounts always came in handy, and they would need horses for Selena and the other women when they made their escape from Juniper Canyon. Conrad didn’t think Leatherwood would divide his forces any more than he already had, so another ambush was unlikely. Conrad warned his companions to remain alert anyway. Anything was possible. He recognized the spot where he and Arturo had first encountered Selena when she was being chased by Leatherwood and his men. But he didn’t know how to get to Juniper Canyon from there, so he would have to rely on the others to lead the way. Kingman, Ollie, and the other three Outcast Saints had been born and raised there.
