The Mother's Mite: Why Even Our Smallest Efforts Matter (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
DeAnne Flynn captures the magic of small moments in motherhood--whether mothering your own children or those around you. She shares "offerings" that we as mothers give, or can give, to our children and others that will help to shape the lives around us while providing the necessary knowledge of a mother's love. Being a mom is not easy work, and often we feel that what we give is not enough, but Flynn implores that it IS enough. This is a beautiful, inspired book that will leave moms of all types feeling uplifted and willing to give more. Her words are graceful and eloquent and speak to the soul. You can read it in one sitting, or savor the stories individually. The only thing she missed? About 100 more pages! What a great reminder this book is, that motherhood is full of small and simple offerings that make the biggest influence to our families. I love these quotes..."People will forget what you said...but people will never forget how you made them feel.""Feel the fear and do it anyway!""No mother gives her all-all of the time. It's simply not in any way possible. But like the widow of old, if we merely give what we have--humble though it may be--we will find great peace in feeling we have offered well.""Jeffrey R. Holland reassuringly confirmed, 'If you try your best to be the best parent you can be, you will have done all that a human being can do and all that God expects you to do.' And in trying to be the very best parents we can be, let us pause often to celebrate and savor our small successes, to delight in the little things we do well, and to lift other nurturers who walk beside us along this bumpy path of parenting.""Why do our smallest efforts matter? Because even our poorest, most pathetic little offerings can have a profoundly powerful effect upon the lives of those we love! All those teensey, measly, minuscule mother's mites we find ourselves wondering about really do make a positive difference."
What do You think about The Mother's Mite: Why Even Our Smallest Efforts Matter (2011)?
I liked the first analogy of what we give as mothers, but the rest of the book was just okay.
