I love Sibella Giorello's characters and the other books in the Raleigh Harmon series were page-turners. This one took me a while to get finished and frankly, I skipped quite a few paragraphs. Maybe I wasn't totally in the mood. I don't know what the problem was exactly. The plot was harder to follow than usual. Maybe too many extraneous characters. Maybe the rocks she trailed seemed not important enough for someone to kill over. I kept waiting to learn what the murder was really about. Anyway, Ms. Giorello is a fun and innovative writer. She knows way more about geology than I do, so I always learn interesting little trivia along with the mystery. I like that Raleigh doesn't preach but she does a lot of wondering about God. Seems quite real. I look forward to the next book. I really liked this story overall.Good suspense and order. Good writing.BUT. There was too much technical talk for me.Different gems, and stones and minerals with thier scientific names were confusing and took away from the story.This was my first book by this author and it is a clean read.I wish the main character and the prospective love interest who she works with in this story had more "umph"
Good who done it interesting characters although some were a bit over the top. Nice summer read.
