The New New Rules: A Funny Look At How Everybody But Me Has Their Head Up Their Ass (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
"If conservatives get to call universal health care 'socialized medicine,' I get to call private, for-profit health care 'soulless vampire bastards making money off human pain.'" (p. 188)An alphabetical collection from the "new rules" segment of Maher's show, with the addition of some that never made it on the air. Sometimes Maher is juvenile. Other times, he's got his razor blade on the wrist of the country, which makes for good reading. Entertaining overall although I'm sure some of the bits were in the precursor New Rules! In any case, worth listening to as an audio book library borrow. Some caustic insights and laugh out loud incendiary sarcastic humour that make it worth the time. Delivered in it's 'sound bite' format it is very much in keeping with the current immediate-gratification and attentive-disordered 'dumbed down' American culture against which it sometimes rails, yet this is precisely what makes it easily digestible, and clever, though sometimes a little tedious.

Mr. Maher is something of a curmudgeon, he is funny but a curmudgeon nonetheless

It was a lot of preaching to the choir. Still, I enjoy his rants.
