"The Obituary Society" by Jessica L. Randall was really a surprise read! I chose it because after the novel I just read, I NEEDED a light read. I thought this was going to be a novel where the girl goes back to her grandfather's funeral, meets a man, gets serious, then can't decide whether to stay or go back to college. Well, it was all that and more! Turns out to be a great murder mystery with all sorts of plots and schemes, comical feature involving the residents of the small community, and an all round good book. I was also surprised at the end to find that she is an Indie artist! Way to go Jessica! Congrats on a great novel. It was a page turner and kept my imagination going! Loved this. Am buying it for my mom for Christmas, as it reminds me so much of the small Midwestern town where she grew up and where we often spent vacations when I was growing up. It's a cozy mystery, meaning not a lot of blood and gore, more focus on the characters and the mystery's influence on their lives. I don't usually read mysteries, but the cover intrigued me, and it the story is just like you would imagine from the cover. Sweet small town wholesomeness. :)
