The Obstacle Is The Way: The Timeless Art Of Turning Trials Into Triumph (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
I had trouble staying with this book. I really like the title and that is what keep me going. I listened on Audible recording and actually liked the interview from Tim Ferris at the end better than the book itself and feel I should take another run at this book with a more open mind. I found it to be slow and repetitive in several spots. The reason for 3 stars is I liked the concept but had trouble getting through this one. Got this book after it was nominated as a candidate for the Goodreads readers' choice award. And was not disappointed a little bit at all. The author has done a wonderful job of putting down the ideas that will help anyone who wants to get that little bit motivation to achieve something. In the course of the book, the author has given three broad ideas which I can call as PAD. Perception, Action and Discipline. The three cornerstones of every great personality. This book has so many little gems hidden within itself. Sample this. "First, see clearly. Next, act correctly. Finally, endure and accept the world as it is. Perceive things as they are, leave no option unexplored, then stand strong and transform whatever can’t be changed. And they all feed into one another: Our actions give us the confidence to ignore or control our perceptions. We prove and support our will with our actions."I highly recommend this book to anyone who feels lost and would like to have some chicken soup for his or her soul and have the perfect ammunition to clear all the obstacles in his/her way. I am sure after reading this, the way someone looks at the obstacles would definitely change for better.
