The Officer And The Bostoner (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
this was supposed to be a historical romance? a historical western romance? could have fooled me. A sewing pattern available for purchase at an out of the way military fort in 1845? a quick Wikipedia search tells you that sewing patterns weren't commercially available until 1863 at the earliest. He prefers his tea cold because he is from the South, in 1845? ice being so abundant in the South back then, making iced tea was a breeze. While the hero was from a wealthy family in the South that may have had access to ice this whole concept just seems absurd. Actually, the whole story seemed absurd. Got it for free and paid too much for it It was a quick read, and the characters were amusing. The plot was pretty weak, and I just get really annoyed with the stuttering characters who don't just say whatever the hell they need to say and move on. This book could have been about half its length (and those extra pages would not have been missed) if Alison had just told Wes what was going on. Then they could have moved forward- I enjoyed the development of their life together, and would have liked to have more of that. The complication of the nasty fiance could have been resolved in Act I, and another complication introduced (pregnancy at the post, perhaps?) and the novel would have been MUCH stronger.
What do You think about The Officer And The Bostoner (2013)?
It was a cute light romance.. there are a few sex scenes but they are pretty easily skipped over.
