This is the story of Butch and how he is framed for murder before meeting Joanna Brady. His ex wife took everything he had to run off with his accountant. She left him in debt to the IRS and penniless. When she is found dead years after the divorce, all clues lead to Butch. His grandmother is dead, but left him her restarunt, house and friends. He grandmother’s friends come to his rescue. At the end he meets Joanna and the rest is history. I love Jance, she never lets me down. This short mystery features Butch Dixon of Jance's Joanna Brady series. The characters are interesting, as is the plot, however the story comes to a crashing finish. If this was an idea for a full length novel, it should have been one. There is a gem hiding in here. As it stands, the hour's reading, so well-crafted, ends abruptly. It sort of feels like a writer's block hit and the manuscript was hastily dispatched.
What do You think about The Old Blue Line (2014)?
Great view into Butch prior to Joanna coming into his life.
