The Price Of Innocence - Plot & Excerpts

White’s house on time. It was a large, white building with the back wall made entirely out of glass; though this room was concealed from neighbor's eyes by the tall cypress hedge which surrounded his extensive garden, with its ubiquitous swimming pool and exuberant tropical-looking plants. As she stepped inside, he did not appear to recognize her at all; but after a couple of minutes of speaking to him in a sweet and innocent tone, he appeared to remember, and his eyes lit up in anticipation.
“Get in here”, he ordered her in delight, and she complied, following him into the glass-walled living room.
It was by far the biggest lounge Laura had ever been in. On one side was the window overlooking the pool and garden, and almost as big, on the other side, was a giant fish tank, containing innumerable merrily colored fish, illuminated with the same luminescent turquoise light as the pool outside. The walls in between were a lurid red, and there was a huge black leather sofa in the center of the room.
