The Real Macaw (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

The contining adventures and trials of Meg...this is number 13 in the series. Meg is busy, always busy, and her twins, extended family, and curious nature don't make her life simpler. This installment moved quickly, contained new and well loved characters, and had plenty of red herrings to keep it interesting. My only complaint is the mentioning of baby care every few pages. I know babies are time consuming investments and that's life, but do we really need to read about seemingly every diaper change and pump break? I know I sound like a mean old bitty, but I have yet to figure out how the kiddos will enhance future plots. However, don't let this deter you from reading this funny, entertaining series. Another fine installment in the Meg Langslow murder series. This time, we find our heroine resigned to her sleepless and selfless existence in caring for her 4 month old twin boys. Just when she thinks that she can get a moment's rest, her serenity is shattered by the noises of the menagerie her father, brother and grandfather have assembled in her living room. It's all part of a plot to rescue the animals from the county shelter destined for certain demise owing to cost-cutting measures. But one of the rescuers failed to show up for duty and winds up dead. So much for his taking care of the animals and getting them into new or foster homes. The usual family dynamics ensue and mayhem takes over. Meg tries not to engage but gets sucked into the mystery unravelling vortex and eventually saves the day. But what a ride it is getting her there!

Meg Lanslow and her family are a hoot! I love this series. Does she ever get a moment to herself??

These are increasingly ridiculous, and I mean that in the best possible way.
