I enjoyed this book quite a bit, it sucked you in because you didn't know what would happen next and it kept you guessing and on your toes. I love the main character, Sarah, she is quite the lady! However, I was not expecting the 'romance' writing, the intimate scenes were too descriptive for my liking which I was not expecting in this novel, but that is just me. Overall, it was great and I plan on reading more of Thorland's books. Great opening line. Author is a strong historical fiction writer and had some fun twists and turns. Would have rated it higher but for a couple of really. Bad. Smut scenes. I mean like unsexy, unromantic scenes full of HOWLERS that had me laughing rather than blushing. I mean really baaaad. Sorry I sent it back to the library or I would have shared a couple. I think there were three of these eye-rolling scenes. Not my thing and I skipped over it. I personally think the author should stick w historical fiction, she seemed to have a talent for it. The last bit of the book got a little silly w some daytime soap plots. And personally, when it came to the choice of choosing man #1 or man #2, I would have picked the second. Hands down.
What do You think about The Rebel Pirate (2014)?
I read most of it and then started another book. I am having trouble going back to this story.

lots of fun. Reminds me of those "John Dickson Carr" historicals, with a lot more history.
