I normally do not read murder mysteries, but I was curious. On one hand, I felt like an outsider because I do not know much about the culture, religion(s) and communities discussed in the book. Thus, relating to characters was difficult in the beginning. At times, especially as the reader learned more about the crime(s) being committed, it was difficult not to become infuriated that people/the characters would act in such a way in the name of their chosen deity. I know that it shouldn't suprise me, but it was difficult to read about even if this is a work of fiction. There were some moments when the storyline lost my interest but overall I found the book engaging. I was emotionally involved in the story and surprised along the way. I especially liked the brother and sister protagonists. Because I want to know what happens to the main characters, I think I will continue reading the series. I've started book 2 and so far so good. Polygamy murder mystery - actually really good. I find the whole topic of polygamy very interesting...so to add in a murder mystery within the cult was a great read. This is book one of a series of 3...book 4 to be released this fall. This was a book I also picked up on Kindle's Daily Deal - well worth the .99 investment per book. Currently the price on Kindle is at $2.99 per book - still a great price for a series that I couldn't put down.
