Reviewed by CrystalBook provided by the publisher for reviewReview originally posted at Romancing the BookLindsay has been wanting to know more about BDSM and wants her boyfriend Ben to try things out with her. Ben blows up when she brings it up. So the next thing you know, Ben is gone and left Lindsay to herself. They meet again on the way to a Con Convention. So two women and four men travel in a RV. To say this is a little nerdy is putting it midly. Lindsay knows that her friends are into the BDSM and she is drawn to it and to them. Ben has always been jealous of any man giving Lindsay any attention and that is one of the excuses that he used with her. When I read this book I thought that going to a convention sounded really fun and something I would love to see. I’m not a nerd and don’t know some of the words they used, so I was a little out of my depth in that part of the story. I enjoyed how the author led us into the start of the BDSM with Lindsay and Ben. Lindsay really couldn’t make up her mind what she wanted and that was something I didn’t like. Why would you want to do something like this and not go through it all the way? She confused me and I know that she confused Ben. I enjoyed the pink store that Ben had to go into. It made me laugh and to think some little old lady knew more about things then I even want to think about her knowing. The author showed the characters flaws and showed me that everyone is always scared when they go into the unknown. Even when they put up the act of being in charge. I loved seeing characters like that. Just to know that in a relationship of any kind you have to take it slow and a little at a time and do some experimenting. So I am left with wanting to find out more. It also showed me that just what a person looks like on the outside doesn’t mean that, that is the person you will get. Everyone puts on an act. I would have like to have seen the costumes for myself even though the author did a wonderful job describing them.I recommend this book to anyone who wants something a little different. It has hot sex and anal play so I have warned you. The romance here is fine, but not great. I appreciate a lot of what Dryden is doing here--I don't know if the presentation of geek culture is realistic, but it is certainly believable and treated very affectionately. I actually like that the main obstacle to their being together wasn't just the misunderstanding over kinkiness, but the fact that Ben was kind of a loser sellout. But...I wanted a lot more tension before the forgiveness began. This works fairly well as a novella because they had a previously established relationship, so the distance to go to love & commitment is not as far. And I liked both Ben and Lindsay. They felt like real characters. I wish they had had more time to develop/ fix their relationship.
What do You think about The Seduction Hypothesis (2013)?
This one wasn’t as well written. The characters were okay.
