The Slayer Chronicles: First Kill (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
Rating: 3.4The writing of the book was done well and Heather Brewer did a good job she has in the past. I rated this story based on how it was written and how it flowed; not on my opinion.I understand why she wrote this book. I understand why this side of the story had to be told. Unfortunately I did not like Joss's character in the first book series. I rooted for Vlad. This book is the darker side of what happens in the first series. Racist cult. Really, that's how I see the Slayer Society. Brainwashed regime of those who think they are in the right.Truths that are told are only truths if you believe that way.I plan on reading the other books just for the fact of giving the story a chance. I thought that this book was really good in general. It was really interesting and it kept me hooked until the very last page, were I decided that (drum roll please) Joss McMillan is an idiot. However he is a relateable idiot who is going to get himself killed. I love the way he is loyal to his sister's memory and the way he is so determined to do whatever it takes to avenge her, but he comes across as a bit bullheaded at times. But that's alright. I really liked Heather Brewer's style, and i found it fun and easy to read. I cant wait to read the rest of this series and the Vlad Todd series.
