I'm labeling this one as just "okay". Nothing really pulled me in and I sat the book down several times because the story wasn't holding my attention. It was well written but came off a little dull to me. I really wanted to like this but sadly it just didn't live up to my expectations. I gave it two stars for enjoyment (or lack there of) but rounded to three since the writing was great. I don't think I'll be reading book two. The beginning waved a bit being slow and the bickering characters, but it really picked up after the first third with a cool plot involving a secret government branch (and it's splinter cell), mercenaries, thieves, cool aliens, and a mystery surrounding a boy everyone wants to kidnap. I really enjoyed Renna, she was delightfully realistic. She and Finn evidently used to be in the same gang, but each thought the other was dead (and under poor circumstances). I didn't like his goody-goody military character very much, or why Renna liked him. But it worked for the story, even if I wouldn't pick him. Also don't like the white-washed cover.
