We can really work on your skills, honey.” Her dad agreed to the plan, too. “You know, I’m impressed with you, Gladdy,” he said. “First, you ate all those hot dogs with me in Manhattan, and now you want to try hot dogs in other boroughs. It’s like you’re finally learning how to eat like a kid!” So they made a plan to visit beaches in Queens and Staten Island the next Saturday, and to go to Orchard Beach in the Bronx the Saturday after that. For once, Gladys wouldn’t be scrambling at the last minute to finish her assignment; she would have more than a week after the Bronx trip to get her review into perfect shape before Fiona returned from her vacation.
