The Time Traveller's Guide To Medieval England Brain Shot (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

A consistently lucid, compelling "eyewitness" account of every aspect of life in England in the late 1500s under Queen Elizabeth. So much great information to pull out of here. Mortimer shows us not just the ways in which the people of this era were radically different from us, but also all the common human traits that endure no matter what time and place. For historical fiction (or fantasy!) writers interested in this period for a setting, this book would be a treasure trove. A very well written and researched book presented in easy to listen to chapters covering every conceivable aspect of living in Elizabethan times. I did skip the segment on their awful ways of amusing themselves by what is nothing less than torturing animals. The rest of the book was quite amusing and enlightening. I emerged ever so grateful for having been born into a more modern world where homeless people do not get holes burned into the ears and then hanged for not having a home to live in.I think it would do some ungrateful modern teenagers who live with a sense of entitlement good to read this book.I will definitely read more of the time traveller's guide books.
