Now is the time to shake it off and start anew. Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done. My heart is broken. I lost my dad and one of my best friends in one swoop. My mom has become more herself. Rather than locking herself in her room, she avoids the whole situation. She spends her days working or looking for places to live in Vacaville. I start school in a month, and it can’t come quick enough. My dad has stopped trying to call me, but Emma is still texting and calling every day. I’ve considered changing my number, but I’m stubborn in my ways and I don’t want to move my life around more than I need to. I’m already moving away, but I’d like to think that’s because of college. However, I’d be lying to myself if that were the only reason. Sara has been going through her own hardships as well, but she’s been by my side this whole time. Our friendship has strengthened. She’s my family. My mom has agreed to let Sara stay with us until she gets settled. I’m sure we’d be inseparable anyways, but the thought alone puts me at ease.
