A fun, quick read, a victorian who-done-it involving Lloyd Fellows, half-brother to the clan Mackenzie. The opening was crackling, a bishop falls dead poisoned in the company of Lady Louisa, sister-in-law to Mac Mackenzie the artist, I think. The family calls on their illegit half-sibling and detective with Scotland Yard, Lloyd. The dick and the lady have some kissy history so figuring out who did the deed gets complicated. It started well and continued apace, but Ian's story (The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie, 5+ stars) still holds a special, unequalled place in my historical romance-loving heart. Something about the pathos of a brilliant man completely misunderstood and ostracized in society, autistic (Asberger's Syndrome probably), and isolated, with only his family preventing his indefinite incarceration in an asylum, finding love with a gentle woman who finds a way to reach him still stands head and shoulders above most HRs I've read, and is hands-down my favorite among the clan Mackenzie. That said, the whole family is wonderful company. This novella was adorable specially from the middle to the ending.I loved how both of them were so in love and they instantly accept each other's feelings and circumstances without the usual denial. What I specially liked is how both of themHad this kind of invisible yet obvious connection with Ian. And OF COURSE Ian as usual was adorable specially at the ending XD And Lloyd kinda pissed me off with the bastard thing and how he doesn't fit in and all, what's wrong with not fitting in, just look at Ian he's the lovelies most adorable hot character I've met yet he doesn't fit in, so why don't he just accept it like his brothers did and start bonding!!Ok they did start but of course their progress is kinda slow cause hart told him how their asshole of a dad died and the only one who knew was his wife so it's kinda a big deal Overall I L O V E D it!!!
